17th Season begins with "The Velocity of Autumn"
Redwood Curtain’s exciting 17th season kicks off with a humorous and touching family comedy. “We are thrilled with the plays we’ve selected for our new season!” said Artistic Director Clint Rebik. “Individually, each is a terrific piece of theatre. As a whole, the five shows bring laughter, humanity and theatricality. We can’t wait to share it all with our audiences.”
“I can’t believe we are starting our 17th season!” added Executive Director Peggy Metzger. “Where has the time gone?”
In Eric Coble’s The Velocity of Autumn, Alexandra, an 80-year-old artist, is in a showdown with her family over where she’ll spend her remaining years. She’s barricaded herself in her Brooklyn brownstone with enough Molotov cocktails to take out the block. Her estranged son Chris returns after 20 years, crawls through Alexandra’s second-floor window and becomes the family’s unlikely mediator. A wickedly funny and wonderfully touching discovery of the fragility and ferocity of life.
Kristin Mack (For Better, The Heir Apparent) directs, and featured in this two-hander are RC veteran Bonnie Mesinger, and newcomer Gary Bowman. Liz Uhazy does the scenic and lighting design. Justin Takata stage manages.
