The Drawer Boy
by Michael Healy
Directed by Jim Lawer
In the early 1970s, a theatre troupe in Toronto, Canada endeavored to bring real life to the stage by living with the rural farming community and turning those glimpses of farm life into entertaining theatrical productions. The Drawer Boy is based on that movement and shows us a chapter in the life of a young actor gathering information for a new play by living with an odd couple of farmers. As the play progresses, the young actor becomes more a part of their lives than he had imagined possible, and the play becomes a convoluted mirror of tales and secrets reflecting everything but a quiet farm-life existence. Riddled with comedic interactions, twists and turns of reality, and a heart-warming poignancy, The Drawer Boy promises to entertain in a most inspiring way. Canadian playwright Michael Healey's play was hailed as one of the best plays of 2001 by Time magazine.

The Drawer Boy played September 1 - 24, 2005
