What's
Wrong With This Picture
by Donald Margulies
Directed by Larry K. Fried
A
family comedy by the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of Dinner
with Friends, What's Wrong with this Picture? is the
story of mournful dry-cleaner Mort, whose wife, Shirley, recently
died after choking on a tough piece of moo shoo pork. At the end
of Shiva, Mort and his teen-aged son Artie are finally left alone,
but then the doorbell rings. The two men are faced with an unimaginable
surprise that upends their grief and offers everything they could
have hoped for. Or does it?
L.A.
Weekly writes: "Margulies skillfully tosses us back and forth
between hilarity and sentiment, all the while never leaving gaps
of logic in this most illogical situation."
